Last updated: [date]. Please read these terms before using PlanPass.
PlanPass prepares building consent documentation for eligible minor residential projects, arranges review and certification by a contracted Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP), and lodges the application with your local council as your agent.
PlanPass does not itself hold an LBP licence, registration as an architect, or Chartered Professional Engineer status. Restricted Building Work is reviewed and the Certificate of Design Work is signed by an independently contracted, appropriately licensed or registered professional.
Your local council makes the final decision on any building consent application. PlanPass cannot and does not guarantee that your application will be approved, or approved within any particular timeframe.
PlanPass only accepts projects that meet its published eligibility criteria. If your project is not eligible, we will tell you before you are asked to pay, and may refer you to a designer, architect, or planner better suited to your project.
Our fixed price does not include council application fees, inspection fees, or any other third-party charges. These are set by your council and payable directly to them.
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information, sketches, and photographs you provide, and for arranging a suitably qualified builder to carry out the physical work. You must be the registered owner of the property, or have the registered owner's authority, to engage PlanPass and sign the Letter of Authority.
Projects accepted during our pilot phase are delivered manually and timelines are not guaranteed. This will be confirmed with you separately before your project begins.
You may withdraw from the process at any point before lodgement. [Confirm refund / cancellation policy before publishing.]
[This section needs a qualified NZ lawyer's input before publishing — it should cover limitation of liability, and make clear the LBP/certifying professional carries their own professional indemnity insurance for the certification itself.]
